“Are You Sure of Your Shorebirds?” Virtual Workshop

Not every bird found at the shore is a shorebird, and not every shorebird is found at the shore! We will review lifestyle, behavior, and identification techniques of species within the avian taxonomical group known as shorebirds, which can often present a challenge in identification even for experienced birders. Have your field guide handy for an opportunity to practice identification skills! NOTE: We are offering an optional field trip for this workshop on December 3!

“Are You Sure of Your Shorebirds?” Field Trip

We’ll work on your newly learned shorebird identification skills out in the field, with plenty of time for reviewing and discussing the species that we see! Meet-at-site location: San Luis Pass County Park, 14001 County Rd 257, Freeport, TX 77541

“A Wonderland of Winter Waterfowl” Virtual Workshop

The Upper Texas Gulf Coast provides a variety of habitats that attract winter waterfowl and other water birds such as loons and grebes, making it a wonderful birding destination during the fall and winter months. Identification of these birds can be somewhat tricky, however! This interactive workshop will cover the different family groups and provide information about behavior, habitat, and plumage that can aid in identification. Have your field guide handy for an opportunity to practice identification skills. NOTE: We are offering an optional field trip for this workshop on December 10!
